I turned to Pilates with the hope of a stronger core and improved flexibility and to help with recurrent shoulder and lower back pain. It didn't disappoint. Stronger more balanced and not in pain I thought that was it, but then I trained with a Polestar Pilates instructor and things shifted further. I started to move with my body rather then against it, I learnt what efficiency felt like for me and was empowered to make movement choices that would set me up for life. My posture and movement transformed. Sitting at a table or in the car without slouching came with ease, a better posture and improved movement on my bike, when running, tennis and in yoga too. It’s also helped me to recover from surgeries and post natally too. Quite simply Pilates is the thin red line that connects all areas of my life and I want you to experience that too.
I've been teaching people of all ages for 6 years now certified through Polestar, and love to support people to create lasting change in their bodies (and minds). It's a mindful, dynamic and at times embodied approach structured in a way to optimise your movement potential. We work with the body not against it. Work smarter not harder, practise connection over perfection, nourishment not punishment. And we have fun along the way.
Props, dynamic imagery, fascial release are often incorporated to develop proprioception and the ability to move with greater freedom, ease, stability and confidence.
You'll find me in community in Southville and the Chew Valley, in studio (previously at Soul Pilates, The Body workshop, now at Deeper Balance in Wells), private at home and soon to be online too (Jan2024).
