"...physical fitness is the first
requisite of happiness

Joseph Pilates

Why did you become a Pilates teacher?
I love movement and was very active as a youngster playing tennis competitively to a National Level (I'm also a certified tennis coach). When I left University I went on to work in Marketing in sport and healthcare. It was a fun and interesting job and pretty full on so I travelled a lot and would get neck and shoulder pain. I took up yoga which I love, but it was Pilates that changed my posture, my flexibility and my awareness and quality of movement. It made me appreciate how transformative Pilates can be to your life. It has since helped me to prepare and recover from childbirth (including a c-section and diastesis rectus) and train for sporting events, with success. I honestly felt like a well oiled machine when I did the Bristol 10km. Fluid and efficient movement IS entirely possible.

Being a Pilates teacher means I can help people to feel good through movement. It is a passion and something I believe in whole heartedly.

Describe your teaching style:
A fusion of mindful, dynamic movement that can leave you feeling calm, rejuvenated and energised.

Who have you trained with?
After practising for 10 years, I chose to be certified through Polestar Pilates. Polestar has earned the reputation worldwide as the most scientifically sound Pilates curriculum, setting the standard in Pilates education. I love their holistic and modern approach which ensures that Pilates can be experienced by all safely and effectively and has the power to truly transform lives.

Any specialist training?
I am pre and post natal certified through Burrell Education, first aid trained and fully insured. I also attend workshops throughout the year as part of my CPD.

Where do you work?
I teach in Central and South Bristol in the community and at studios including Vital Pilates, The BodyWorkshop and Soul Pilates. I also see clients privately and teach online.

Any ambitions?
More people, more classes, more content to support people to move well in class and outside of the class. Just gotta juggle it with kiddies but I will get there.

Are you from Bristol?
I’ve lived in Bristol for nearly 10 years now and in Southville for 8. Prior to that I was in London and before that Sydney. I love the culture of Bristol, the diversity, the community spirit and the proximity to the mountains of Wales and the beaches of Devon and Cornwall. But most importantly, Bristol introduced me to a set of great friends and to my lovely Fiancé with whom I have 2 gorgeous girls.

Anything else?
I live for good food and wine, being active, getting outdoors and having fun. I try to be the best I can be.
